A custom machine manufacturer carried out a larger project in Mexico.

The system consisted of several TIA stations commissioned over the course of a few months. Each station was assigned its own technical contact person on the client side.

During the commissioning phase, a typical pattern emerged:

The engineers in charge of each area wanted to adapt the HMI to wording they were used to.

While this makes sense from a technical standpoint – it poses big organizational challenges.

Because the following tasks cannot be carried out during this project phase:

❌Making continuous text changes directly on the machine
❌Constant interventions by the commissioning engineer
❌Generating new software versions for minor text adjustments
❌Granting client operators direct access to TIA project configuration

Each minor text adjustment would have tied up precious resources for the commissioning engineers – despite only needing linguistic adaptations.

DCC Translation Editor was the solution.

The commissioning engineer exported the HMI texts from TIA project configuration. Then, in Translation Editor, client operators were able to input their preferred wording, independently of the development environment.

This completely decoupled text editing from the software development.

After completion of the editing task, the verified files were then imported back into project configuration.

The result:
