An international manufacturer of mass-produced machinery manages the localization of its HMI applications entirely in-house.

The translations are carried out by an external translation agency. The client was pleased with the linguistic quality.

The real problem lay elsewhere.

The processed translation files repeatedly triggered error messages when imported back into the software. In some instances, the import processes stopped altogether.

The cause:

Not the translations themselves, but unintended changes to the file structure during processing.

To permanently eliminate this risk, the client opted for two licenses of our Translation Editor.

One license was provided to the translation agency, and the second one to the internal quality department.

Since then, a precise process is being followed:

✔ The translation agency inputs the translations directly into the text export files within the DCC Translation Editor.
✔ The Translation Editor protects the data structure and ensures format integrity.
✔ In-house quality assurance additionally checks the delivered files using integrated quality filters – verifying, among other things, completeness, missing translations, and critical text lengths.

✅ Quicker approval processes
✅ Greater process reliability between machine manufacturer and translation agency

Today, the final HMI acceptance test once again focuses on the essentials: the usability and quality of the user interface – not on troubleshooting translation files.

Often, the greatest benefit of the Translation Editor is not the translation itself. 

Instead, it is the assurance that correctly translated content is also returned to the application in a technically correct manner.
