FAQ for DCC software localization

Here you find the answers to the most frequently asked questions about us and our services. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please let us know. You can use our contact form, email or phone. We will be happy to answer it.

What makes DCC global different from a translation agency?

Unlike a translation agency, DCC global delivers an end-to-end solution based on software and language expertise.

We know how to work with visualization file export formats, enabling us to prevent undesired changes to headers, tags, rows, columns or text formatting during translation that would cause problems during re-import.

After professional translation by a native-speaker expert and downstream editing and proofreading, we integrate all texts into the visualization, review all windows in the configuration and ensure that the configuration is operational. The configuration is then handed over to you, ready to deliver to the customer for commissioning.

Upon request, we can also create a print-ready manual featuring consistent translations and a print-ready layout with localized images and machine labels. Building company-specific terminology databases and translation memories guarantees the consistent use of terms across projects and creates synergies for subsequent projects.

How does DCC global ensure translation quality?

Three components make up DCC global's approach to translation quality:

  • DCC global's translation management process,
  • software-based quality control and
  • more than 20 years of experience in localization and internationalization.

Translation management process:
Translation management is handled by four different people at DCC global: the project engineer, the translator, the editor and a second translator/proofreader.

  • With the help of the DCC Translation Editor, all sensitive formatting is protected from deletion when the visualization texts are imported.
  • Customer-specific terminology is compiled for initial projects, and we revise and add to existing terminology in subsequent projects.
  • Files are compared against translation memories from previous projects (if any).
  • Translations are completed exclusively by native-speaker industry professionals.
  • All translations are reviewed in a downstream editing/proofreading process. Translations are imported into a customer-specific translation memory and terminology database upon request.
  • Texts are imported into the visualization with adjustment of text string lengths.
  • A second translator performs a final acceptance test with a window-by-window review of the entire visualization for comprehensibility and completeness.

Software-based quality control:
DCC global uses Translation Editor Enterprise Edition software for quality control, a tool built on experience gained from more than 3,000 projects in 50 languages during the last 20 years.

Translation Editor enables translator-independent quality control.

Twelve quality-assurance filters reliably identify the most common error sources, such as character errors, incorrect figures, untranslated text, typos, etc. This also includes overly long translation strings. Company-specific terminology and translation memories are integrated into the software to deliver consistent wording across projects.

20 years of experience:
By working with a pioneer in the localization of process visualizations in the machine and plant engineering sectors, you will benefit from our 20 years of experience. Having completed more than 3,000 projects, we are familiar with the language-specific features of a wide variety of process visualization systems and versions, and can rely on highly experienced employees and a network of specialist translators. In addition, we perform all of our translation services in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 17100 standard. This is guaranteed by our registration with TÜV Rheinland - DIN CERTCO (Reg. No.: 7U479).

What does "translator-independent" quality control mean?

At DCC global, the localization result is independent from the translator's performance on a given day. Every translation is consistently reviewed by three people apart from the translator and undergoes a software-based quality control procedure.

Having every translation pass through the hands of four different people means that after translation and editing, a second translator along with the project manager perform an acceptance test. This involves a window-by-window review of the entire visualization for comprehensibility and completeness.

Why is DCC global uniquely qualified to localize my system?

By working with a specialist in the localization of process visualizations in the machine and plant engineering sectors, you will benefit from our experience gained from more than 3,000 projects completed for customers in 50 languages. We are familiar with the language-specific features of a wide variety of process visualization systems and versions, and can rely on highly experienced employees and a network of specialist translators.

An added benefit for SIMATIC configurations is our close cooperation with SIEMENS: Our localization software is officially SIMATIC-certified and TIA-ready.

Can DCC global simply deliver my translation in an Excel spreadsheet?

Although we always try to fulfill customer requests, DCC global operates as a technical service provider to the German machine and plant engineering industry rather than as a "classic" translation agency.

Thanks to its proven processes and tools, DCC global has specialized in localization and quality assurance of system controls and process visualizations. In addition to professional translation of texts in application-specific text formats, DCC global offers software expertise, the know-how to adapt and integrate texts into user interfaces with limited space, and a quality assurance process.

The professional translation of texts in Excel spreadsheets is only an initial step on the way to a quality-assured application. The text must be processed further to ensure a high-quality finished product.

As a result, DCC global's translation management process is too costly for simple text translations, and without control over the subsequent implementation and adaptation process, DCC global cannot guarantee the quality of such translations.

Which languages does DCC global offer?

Because we specialize in process visualizations in the machine and plant engineering sectors, we are familiar with the language-specific features of a wide variety of process visualization systems and versions, and can rely on highly experienced employees and a network of specialist translators in all target-language countries.

By consistently having each translation reviewed by three different people apart from the translator and applying integrated software-based quality control during the translation management process, we can offer you a localized product in any language with quality assured – independent of the translator's performance on a given day. The proof is in more than 3,000 projects successfully completed for customers in 50 languages.

How do we calculate the price of our services?

DCC global does not simply provide translations, but instead adds the desired languages to your configuration and returns it to you after quality assurance and runtime testing, ready to deliver to the customer for commissioning.

To guarantee this level of quality, DCC global specializes in the localization and quality assurance of system controls and process visualizations and the required processes and tools. In addition to professional translation of texts in application-specific text formats, DCC global offers software expertise, the know-how to adapt and integrate texts into user interfaces with limited space, and a quality assurance process.

The cost-benefit ratio shows that investing in quality will pay off quickly:

The systematic and consistent use of industry-specific terminology in both the source and target languages enables your customer’s employees to quickly, easily and unproblematically operate the system control you deliver. Qualified machine operators will be able to obtain productivity and quality from the sophisticated product your engineers have developed without time-consuming training. This increases the practical value of the system – and the price that can be obtained.

DCC global spares you from having to build in-house expertise and capacity for developing software localization solutions, making labor-intensive rounds of corrections, and experiencing delays in commissioning. Our localization solutions can be commissioned directly or delivered to your customers without additional effort or expense on your part. Your company benefits directly because we free up your scarce engineering resources and speed up commissioning in a pleasant atmosphere.
